what to expect

At the People’s Movement Assembly (PMA), we gather to defend our people’s right to remain on the land we’ve built, nurtured, and protected for generations. This is a space where we speak the truth without flinching—naming the forces that are pushing us out, from skyrocketing housing costs to the state-sanctioned violence of ICE raids. We’re drawing the line between every attack on our stability and the larger, coordinated fight to uproot Black and immigrant communities. And we’re coming together to chart a path toward collective freedom, not just survival.

Collective Political Education

We’ll dig into what’s happening on the ground—rising rents, displacement, police and ICE presence, and the everyday violence that threatens our stability. This is where we learn from each other, name the patterns we’re seeing, and root our understanding in the lived experiences of Black and immigrant families across Miami.

Community-Led Analysis

We aren’t looking at housing in isolation. We’re examining how safety, dignity, and the ability to stay in our neighborhoods are all tied together. Through real conversations and shared stories, we’ll map the systems pushing our people out and lift up the solutions already coming from within our communities.

Strategy-Building Sessions

This is where we move from talking to planning. We’ll identify the pressure points, the opportunities, and the collective actions that can shift conditions for our people. The goal is to move in sync—no silos, no scattered efforts—just coordinated strategy rooted in Black leadership and community power.

Centered on Black Self-Determination

Everything we do here starts with us. Our stories, our frontline realities, and our vision for what our neighborhoods deserve will guide the work. This space is about honoring our right to decide what safety, stability, and liberation look like—without waiting for permission from the same systems that harm us.
